Cochin Port Trust is inviting applications from eligible candidates for the position of Pilot. The selected candidates will be responsible for navigating vessels safely through the waters of Cochin Port. This is a vital role that requires expertise in maritime operations and navigation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely navigate vessels in and out of Cochin Port.
- Execute pilotage duties according to established procedures and regulations.
- Communicate effectively with ship captains, port authorities, and other relevant personnel.
- Monitor weather conditions and other factors that may affect safe navigation.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of pilotage activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Must hold a Masters Degree from a recognized board or university.
- Should possess relevant certifications and licenses for piloting vessels.
- Proven experience as a pilot or in a related maritime position is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of maritime laws, regulations, and navigational techniques.
Skills:
- Excellent navigational and ship handling skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to make quick and sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work in challenging weather conditions.
Salary and Benefits:
- Salary: Rs. 70,000 – 2,00,000/- per month
- Other benefits as per Cochin Port Trust regulations.
