The application process for NIMCET 2024 started on March 6, 2024, and the last date for submission is April 20, 2024. What is NIMCET?
NIMCET National Institute of Technology Master of Computer Applications Common Entrance Test, is an examination conducted for admission to MCA programs. This annual entrance exam is aimed at offering admission to the Masters in Computer Application (MCA) program in participating NITs (National Institutes of Technology).
Candidates are required to achieve a good rank in the NIMCET MCA exam, and based on their ranks, they will be allocated seats at various NIT campuses. Approximately 25,000 students register for NIMCET each year, with roughly 805 seats available across 9 NITs located throughout India. Additionally, many universities and institutes besides NITs also consider NIMCET scores for admissions to their MCA programs.
NIMCET Eligibility Criteria
Candidates are advised to ensure they meet the following NIMCET eligibility criteria for 2024 before proceeding to fill out the application form:
Qualifying Exam: Applicants holding a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics/Statistics for a minimum of 3 years full-time, or B.E/B.Tech, or an equivalent examination from a recognized University are eligible to apply for the entrance exam.
Academic Background: Candidates who have completed their B.Sc/B.Sc (Hons)/BCA/BIT for 3 years from Open Universities are also eligible to apply for the entrance exam.
Minimum Marks: Indian National candidates must have secured a minimum aggregate of 60% or 6.5/10 CGPA, and for SC/ST candidates, a minimum of 55% marks or 6.0/10 CGPA is required for eligibility for the exam.
Appearing Candidates: Those who are in their final year of the qualifying exam are also eligible to apply for the exam.
Application Form:
For NIMCET 2024, the application fee is set at Rs 2500/- for candidates belonging to the General and Other Backward Class (OBC) categories. However, for candidates from the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) categories, the fee is reduced to Rs 1250/-.
