Consider a thief from Lucknow. On Sunday, 2nd June, the police arrested a man who was fast asleep on the floor of the house that he had intended to rob. According to India Today, the drunken burglar turned up the AC to drift off into dreamland.
The bizarre incident occurred in Lucknow Indiranagar in the early morning hours of Sunday. Sunil Pandey was on duty in Varanasi and his house was empty. The would-be burglar took advantage of the situation and broke into the house.
Dr. Pandey was notified by alert neighbors who spotted the gate open. Dr. Pandey, unable to return himself, contacted the police. They found him in deep sleep, enjoying the cool air from the AC that he had thoughtfully turned on.
The photo shows the thief peacefully sleeping while holding a cellphone. DCP North Zone Vijay Shankar said the man had intended to steal but was distracted by the AC.
The officer said that he was “heavily intoxicated” and had fallen into a deep slumber. “Neighbors called to report the open gate and he was arrested.”
